AS the National Party pork-barrel their way across the electorate of Murray in a bid to win the seat over, I urge voters to look at the facts.
In the four years since I have been the state member, I have brought $1.4 billion of funding into the electorate, compared to a miserable $200 million by The Nationals for their previous term – that’s seven times more money back into our communities.
If The Nationals had’ve cared about the electorate over their previous three-decade term of neglect, Murray wouldn’t be in the situation it is now –
crumbling infrastructure, dysfunctional hospitals and poor roads.
In typical Nationals form, they wait until an election and promise the world to get your vote. I would prefer to deliver throughout my term and not hold back funding just to attract votes.
It’s a big call for The Nationals to take the credit for a raft of funding that has occurred under an independent.
The Deniliquin, Wentworth, Griffith, Finley and Leeton hospitals have been upgraded because Murray is now marginal. This wouldn’t have happened if The Nationals still held this seat.
National Party candidate Peta Betts has repeatedly stated if elected she would continue as mayor of Edward River Council as well as the state MP. Voters need to ask themselves do they want a part-time MP with half the results, or an independent who has proven she can get the job done and keep Murray moving forward.
