Budget cuts will hurt our regions

WITH a nightmare State Budget looming in May, it’s evident the Allan government is poised to inflict severe cuts on regional Victorians.

Grassroots sporting groups, integral parts of our communities, face the brunt of the pain as grant funding dries up.

The funding for the arts is also in the gun as the Government struggles to rein in spiralling debt, which estimates suggest will hit $250 billion (quarter of a trillion) by 2027.

Premier Jacinta Allan cannot manage money and major projects, causing cost blowouts to soar.

The government continues to plough billions into its city projects, therefore neglecting regional areas.

This economic mismanagement has left our state in a dire situation, characterised by wasteful spending, excessive taxation, and a lack of accountability.

The disregard for regional communities is particularly alarming, and proposed cuts to community sporting groups only highlights the problem further.

The government’s failure to adequately prepare for and respond to natural disasters, such as the recent shortage in CFA resources and power outages, highlights a dangerous pattern of negligence.

As the government struggles to rein in escalating debt, vital volunteer-based organisations like the CFA are left desperately vulnerable.

We must demand better, and The Nationals will hold the Government accountable.

Labor can’t manage money and Victorians are paying the price.
