Budget goes from bad to worse

WOW, I thought last year’s state budget was bad.

This year it’s worse.

After a decade of financial mismanagement under Labor, Victoria’s net debt has risen from $21.8 billion to $187.8 billion by 2028.

Due to Labor’s financial mismanagement, we are currently paying more than $15 million every single day on interest payments.

Because Labor can’t manage money, Victorians now pay the highest taxes in Australia.

The Premier’s track record speaks for itself.

The Commonwealth Games were cancelled and $600 million was wasted, and Jacinta Allan was responsible for more than $30 billion of cost blowouts on major projects, providing overpaid jobs for the CFMEU.

Labor continues to raise taxes because they keep wasting taxpayer money on projects like the Suburban Rail Loop, a project conveniently located in marginal city seats.

Labor continues to borrow money and our state debt continues to climb.

Money is being wasted paying off interest while regional areas face further cuts and underinvestment in police, ambulance services, roads, schools, healthcare and our CFA.

When Labor was elected to government they promised not to introduce any new taxes, but in the past decade they’ve introduced more than 53 new or increased taxes.

Victorians cannot afford any more of Labor’s waste and increased taxes.

A change of government is desperately needed to restore transparency and get our state back in the black and back on track.

Together with millions of Victorians, I’m counting the sleeps until the November 2026 state election.
