Nationals leader slams rising energy costs

To to the editor

READERS may remember the cries of “Down, Down, Down”.

I’m not talking about a well-known advertisement for a supermarket giant, but spruiking from the Allan Labor Government on energy prices.

It turns out “Up, Up, Up” would be a more fitting slogan as Labor fails dismally on its promise to deliver lower power bills.

If you are struggling to balance your household budget, last week’s headlines were alarming – in the next five years wholesale electricity costs are set to more than double, even if Labor meets its renewable energy targets.

The projection was published as part of a key Infrastructure Victoria report.

The closure of the Latrobe Valley’s coal plants were outlined as a key factor, creating a significant “demand-supply imbalance”.

It states prices are set to “significantly increase” due to a “reduced supply of reliable electricity”.

The costs of Labor’s energy mismanagement will flow on to everyday Victorians, who are being charged more for a less reliable service.

Labor can’t manage money, can’t manage energy and Victorians are paying the price.
