– Kerang residents prepare to be isolated for up to a week, with many having to decide whether to evacuate or stay put. VicEmergency issues an emergency warning stating that the Loddon River at Appin South will likely exceed the 3.3m major flood level.

– In a massive tourism blow to the region, the Swan Hill Basketball Association junior tournament was called off due to the flooding situation. All motels and caravan parks from Swan Hill to Kerang were booked out.

Friday, October 21

– Federal Emergency Management Minister Murray Watt’s office informs Member for Mallee Anne Webster that the Gannawarra Shire will be included on the list of federal funding assistance for flooding.

– Around 100 beds were set up at the Swan Hill Basketball Stadium as it was turned into a relief shelter for those escaping the floods. A small number of people checked into the centre, and some were moved to alternative accommodation and assistance.
