Tuesday, November 1

• A town hall meeting is held where residents in townships to the north of Swan Hill hear from authorities and the Mallee Catchment Management Authority about the impending flood and the focus of preparation around riverside homes.

• Cr Nicole McKay moves at a council meeting to write to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Jacinta Allen and Public Transport Minister Ben Carroll to emphasise the need for food and drink buffet services on the Swan Hill train line after V/Line announced its intention to progressively remove on-train catering.

Friday, November 4

• Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh delivered an “ironclad guarantee” to the Swan Hill District Health redevelopment if voters elected a Coalition government at the state election. Mr Walsh and deputy leader of The Nationals Emma Kealy announced an extra $60 million would be included in a Liberals-Nationals government budget to go towards the hospital’s redevelopment.

• A second town hall meeting in two weeks was held in response to the flooding emergency. A panel of speakers from various organisations, including Swan Hill Rural City Council, SES and Victoria Police, addressed the community saying there was no need to panic. Six warning areas would be used by authorities for updates, including Barmah to Pental Island and Pental Island to Beverford.
