Moulamein Notes with China Gibson October 14

Please ring Dodgy Dan for me

HAS anyone got Teflon Dan’s phone number? I think he has got his head so far up his own bum he hasn’t realised there’s now three times more cases of the dreaded COVID in Sicktoria than NSW, yet there’s still border police.

Can someone please ring him for me and tell him to send the police down to the fools in the city that will not stay at home and keep spreading this bloody thing?

The outbreak and lockdown is under control in Shepparton because most country people obey the rules, and let’s hope we get the Mildura lockdown under control.

An outbreak in the city?

“Let’s protest about being locked down and beat a few poor bloody coppers up and spread it a bit more so we are locked down longer.”

Mildura will be our next test for the bush to show Melbourne how to do it, I hope.

Koolamein Cup is October 23OUR mates the Wakool Wakers are keen to get us over there for the big challenge, the very precious Koolamein Cup.

This great challenge was started many years ago but went into limbo for a few years.

Now t is our turn to go over to Wakool this year to see if we can win this priceless trophy back.

Last challenge there was a bit of a mix up with the date and Moulamein were a bit short of players, and we may have to lend Wakool a few players this time.

Old bowlers, new bowlers – everyone will be made most welcome for this great social day.

There should be a bus running so this makes it even a better day out – let’s hope our Wakool Waker mates read my notes and get their names in as well, looking forward to seeing you there.

Not sure of the exact time yet but we will start with a barbecue lunch, then get into some bowls.

Tennis coaching

OUR Moulamein Tennis Club is up and going and they will be starting an eight week coaching clinic for the kids of in our town and district.

The coaching will start this Sunday October 17 and will be every Sunday for eight weeks.

Children under 6 will be coached from 9am, and children aged 7 to 9 from 10am until 11am.

The cost is $100 per child, so it would be a good time to claim your Active Kids Voucher.

Tennis rackets will be provided for those that do not have one.

Please get in touch with Lauren on 0408308886 for more details.

Please enrol by today.

Our Moulamein Tennis Club is also looking for new members and even sponsors if someone would like to help out to keep our small club alive.

Let’s hope we see a few fluffy balls getting belted around over the fence, but I do not think my festering old body would like me to jump back over the fence from the very comfortable bowling greens, they would need a defibrillator if I did.Great day for umpires

WE have trouble getting league umpires as well as club umpires to do the thankless job for our country footy teams, and the Toby Green incident didn’t make it easier with a three-week suspension for the grub.

Thank you to the AFL for protesting.

Six weeks is still not long enough for what he did, but at least it may help to stop it happening out here in the country.

Remember, every game of footy and netball need an umpire, – if you think they are not doing a good job, put your hand up and show us all how it is done. No jab, no service

LET’S hope those who haven’t had the double jab went to our local pubs and clubs last week, as of this week you’re not allowed in to work or socialise unless you can prove you’re double vaccinated.

And just another friendly reminder to those poor buggers that live on the other side of the Murray and cannot go out for a beer or a feed – you are allowed to come to Moulamein to our Bowling Club or the Tatts Hotel or our gallery or our local Wattle Café, that cooks fresh bread every day and has the best pizza in the district.

You know that you have always wanted to come out here to our great little town of Moulamein – you cannot pass up a $10 lunch at our Moulamein Bowling Club that is guaranteed to fill you up.

Come over and say g’day, just make sure you’re double-jabbed.New date for the gallery photo competition

JUST one more reminder that this event has been put back until November 5 – there are hundreds of dollars up for grabs so give it a go, ring Kathy on 0428875137 or check them out on Facebook.River levels

THE Edward is just over 4,500 megs, and our river has been dropping but this is about to change.

There is another rise coming with over 7,500 megs below Stevens Wier.
