Don’t panic… just yet

River Still Rising, But Do Not Panic.

Do not panic just yet even though our Edward seems to be rising a constant 5cm a day at the moment sitting on 5.72 metres and around 16,500 megalitres a day. I think we got to 5.74 metres in 2016.

The Edward has dropped 17cm in Deniliquin in the last four days and has levelled out about two or three days flow upstream from Moulamein, so we may have dodged a bullet this time round.

Just got news that a bank has blown on the Murein Varrien Creek.

That sends water down the Bullock Creek and into our Edward. There could be a bit of extra water in our Edward by the time you read this.

Do not panic yet. Our Billabong Creek has reached 2016 levels above the Edward back-up.

Still only around 6,500 megalitres a day. Do not panic just yet. Our mates out on the Wakool River seem to be having a hell of a time with water getting to places it has never been before. There could be a bit of panic out there. The good news for you mob is that the Wakool has dropped about 9cm at the offtake in the last three days. Hang in there if you can.

Our Niemur River is also giving a few of our mates out there grief. The bad news for you mob is the our Niemur is still rising at the Barham Road.

Hang in there, all of our rivers should start to level and maybe start to drop this week.

Please be prepared out there.  Anything can happen, if one of these banks out on our Niemur River gives way. Good luck to everyone out there.

Unfortunately, there was over 50mm in both our catchments this week.

Do not panic yet as that water takes about a month to get here in the Murray system and five or six weeks to get here in the Murrumbidgee system. One thing we do very seldom have out here is flash floods out of our rivers.

Swan Hill Road could go

Some of our farmers are having what could be a losing battle out on the Wakool River.

They have two excavators on the bank but are still struggling to hold back the water.

If this bank goes, so does the Swan Hill-Moulamein Road. Hang in there fellers, it will be a battle.

All I have heard from out the Wakool River way is that there is water going where there has never been water before. Good luck to all out there.

Division 4 still on top

After another tight game. Division 4 took out the chocolates by two points.

It came down to Harro’s last bowl of the day. Harro took it from one down to three up. Two rinks up more than enough to hold top spot.

Division 1 was not so fortunate and went 1 rink up and 2 rinks down. Down overall but still in the 4.

Division 1 play top of the table Murray Downs at home this week and Division 4 go away to Murray Downs.

I think there were about 80-odd photos entered this year. They have been judged and most of them are for sale. If you get in quick. You can pick up a bargain to hang on your wall.Raining again

What can I say. It rained again. This is the last forecast rain for at least a week and a bit of warm weather thrown in. It looks like it could almost get to almost 30 in the next week. Must be something to do with global warming.Last day of shearing

We got two days shearing in a row. I’m very happy and I can only guess that our shearers are as well to finally finish the shed that they started nine weeks ago. We averaged 500 sheep a week. Now to work out what to do with the lambs. Thank you to my shearing gang. Job well done. Eventually, under very trying conditions.Sheep on a island

We all have a stuff up at times and we have just had one. We didn’t check one part of our farm and we have managed about 100 or so lambs stuck on a island. I managed to get a feed of hay to them this week. But if the creek keeps coming up there will be more sheep than island. No need to panic yet as we hope the Billabong will drop a bit very soon. Bugger.
