Moulamein and Wakool sheep nights

CENTRAL Murray Bestwool Bestlamb presents ‘Maximising maternal performance’ at Moulamein on Monday June 3 and at Wakool on Tuesday June 4.

Subjects covered will include ewe nutrition for optimal performance, lambing paddock selection and management, ewe replacement selection strategies, getting the most from your rams, the role of teasing, buying rams to drive up reproduction and much more, I imagine.

The nights will be presented by Dr Mark Ferguson from neXtgen Agri.

Because of his great sponsors, Rick has opened up his wallet to let the moths out and these will be a free night with a meal provided.

Both nights start at 6.30pm and should finish about 9pm.

For more information, call Rick on 0428 372 357 or Tahlia on 5453 1577, or email rick.ellis@wmlig.org.au or tahlia.stewart@wmlig.org.

Hope to see you there.

Bookings are essential so Rick knows how many moths to let out and how many meals to book.

We had a win

THE footy season has started up with a bit of a whimper for our mighty Swans.

Six goals down and almost halfway through the last quarter, things were looking grim.

Our boys stepped up and proved they can play four quarters and win.

Up by one point.

I thought the goal I gave Murrabit in the first quarter … that was touched behind the line after the siren might come back to haunt me.

There were only inches in it.

Only I knew for sure.

All of the players were trying to touch the ball and they did.

But behind the line, bugger.

I hate being one of the last honest goal umpires in the league.

We won without a missed call.

That is even better.

Our A grade girls also got up.

It was against the top side.

Well done, girls.

We are over to Ultima again this weekend.

There must be a good reason why we have to go over there twice before they come here, but I haven’t heard it yet.

Chicks in the Sticks event

THIS great event will be run by our Billabong Creek committee YACTAC (Yanco Creek and Tributaries Advisory Council).

They invite you to join them on Thursday July 4 for an empowering day of inspiration and connection.

Featuring engaging facilitator Cynthia Mahoney, all women of all ages and backgrounds are warmly invited.

The day will start with a casual gathering at Moulamein Heritage Centre at noon before moving over to the bowling club at 1pm, with the presentation kicking off at 1.30pm and running until around 4.30pm.

The cost will be $25 per person and you will be able to enjoy a high tea during intermission.

For more information, email project.yactac@gmail.com.

Family recipes wanted

THE Moulamein P&C is seeking family recipes for a cookbook put out by the wider community.

If you have a secret recipe you would like to share, please drop it off to our school office or give Colleen a ring on 5887 5208.

Mighty Bombers in second spot

I DO not get the chance to brag about my mighty Bombers very often, so I will take this chance while we are almost on top of the ladder.

Unfortunately for my Bombers, if they take days since we have won a final and convert it into metres below sea level, we are about twice as far under the sea as Titanic.

This could be the year for my Bombers to take a breath of fresh air.

It has been a while.

The only thing my team tested positive to in the past was COVID.

But it cost us years of success due to the rumours about alleged drug taking.

River levels

THE Edward River has got that rise I was talking about.

The river in town is now at over 1.9 metres and just over 1850 megalitres per day.

The Edward will drop in the very near future as it is only 1700ML below Stevens Wier and falling.

There is about 300ML coming down the Billabong.
