T-bone in Moulamein

WE’VE had a T-bone in town.

No, we didn’t have a visiting butcher on Saturday.

A young feller in a Prado forgot to give way and T-boned a Super-Roo right at our bridge intersection in Moulamein.

Our Moulamein fire brigade and road crash rescue was on the scene in no time.

The driver and the passenger in the Prado jumped out but the driver of the Super-Roo was in a bit of pain.

After the ambos arrived and told our rescue crew what they needed done, the pillar was cut out of the car with the jaws of life to allow easy access so the ambos could get the patient out.

As far as we know everyone escaped with minor injuries.

This rescue unit is a vital service in our little town.

More members are always needed.

Even if you think you are too old to hang off the tools to cut people out of cars there is still a spot for you in our unit.

We always need someone who knows what they are doing to pass us the tools we need and do traffic control and plenty of other jobs that make those on the tools’ job much easier.

One thing our crew did comment on was that if you want to buy a safe car get a Super-Roo.

It stood up to the T-bone pretty well and they had trouble cutting through the door pillar.

The Prado did what it is supposed to do and crumpled to save lives.

Our Moulamein fire brigade and rescue has its AGM coming up at 6.30pm on July 24.

There’s no obligation to join if you turn up: just come in and check us out.

We will give you a free feed and see if you would like to join us.

Hope to see you there.

Allocations increased

IT is always a good sign when we get an increase this early in the season.

The Murrumbidgee is up 5 per cent to 33 per cent of what we own.

The NSW Murray is up 7 per cent to 42 per cent

Our mates over the border in Victoria are up 5 per cent to 68 per cent of what they own.

Unfortunately for my crow-eating mates, they stay on their lousy 100 per cent.

Still raining

WE had a couple of millimetresl last week and have had a few more today at the time of writing.

Everything is staying nice and wet until we get the big one.

Footy-Netball at Hay this week

WE get to travel over to Hay to play the undefeated top-of-the-table this weekend.

They are always a tough ask but this year our boys and girls will have to be at their best to bring home the bacon.

Just remember: the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

River levels

OUR Edward has steadied off at around 1.4 metres and just over 1100 megalitres a day.

Our Edward will be around this level or lower for the foreseeable future.
