FORTY SIX degrees on Monday. All I can say is at least it wasn’t on Saturday for our races. It did not quite hit the predicted peak on our back verandah. But it did hit 44 just briefly.
This was our first day over 40 this year as far as I can remember so it hit pretty hard.
Did a bit of work in the garden for the boss in the morning with frequent cool down stops. Paid a few bills in the afternoon. Tried to cook an egg just on sunshine but that didn’t work. There were a few clouds around so that may have stopped that.
When the cool change came through and it dropped back to 41, I ducked out to start the water and check that the stock were all still OK. It was still 38 at 9pm going by the ute gauge.
Pennant Bowls
DIVISION 1 was at home to Murray Downs on Friday night because of our races on Saturday.
Thank you to Murray Downs for doing that for us. Our team jumped out of the blocks and took the lead early with only a short drink break and no cream cakes to bring them down.
They ended two rinks up, one rink down. Up overall.
There was a special presentation made at the drinks break. We named the top green the Peter Arthur Green due to his dedication to our club over the many years he has been involved as well as his achievements out on the greens. Well done Peter, very well deserved.
Our Moulamein 2 side is now in Division 2 for the rest of this year. We managed the bye in this first round of the new format. That is the bowls done for this year. We have four rounds left next year before the finals start. Do not forget to keep your championship games up to date over the Christmas break.
River allocations
THE Murrumbidgee remains at 34 per cent of what we own. The NSW Murray is on 47 per cent. The Vic Murray is on 100 per cent. My Crow Eating mates are also stuck on the 100 per cent they were given at the start of the year. They will not be happy about Victoria catching up to them.
Races last weekend
I HAVEN’T heard the official figures but numbers seemed to be down a bit. Whatever the numbers they were very well behaved. Even back at our Moulamein Bowling Club for the After Party.
Well done to all of the organisers as well as all those that attended.
Our Moulamein Race Club also had a very special presentation to make on the day. They only have five life members. They gave out their sixth Life Membership to Nick Mc Kindlay for his many years of dedicated service to our race club. Well done Nick.
River levels
OUR Edward has started to drop and is now at just over two meters and around 2100 megs a day. Fishing has still been hot and cold depending who you ask. There have been a couple of big ones hooked but not landed. We can only assume they were cod.
