Boort netballers fit and ready

BOORT’S A Grade netball team are keen to go a couple of steps further this season after falling just short in the 2022 semi-final.

A Grade coach Georgia Sheahan said the Magpies have been putting in some solid sessions during preseason, and were hoping to have another crack at finals.

“They are looking fit and are ready for the season ahead,” she said.

Sheahan will be coaching both A and B Grade, while Brooke Arnold will take on C Grade. In the juniors, Carly Isaac will be assisted by Emerson Doyle to coach the under-17s, while the under-14s will be led by April Griffiths.

The Magpies will welcome back Steph Wilson after having a baby last year, as well as Sophie Perryman. They have also recruited Amy Dridan from Skipton, who will be a welcome addition to the club’s senior squad.

Sheahan said she is expecting to see strong performances across all of the Magpies teams this season, fielding all senior and junior grades.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Sheahan expects Carly Isaac to once again be a standout for the Magpies, having a strong preseason as well as personally training for a marathon.

“Carly will not only shine on court, but her leadership on and off the court will also be noticed,” she said.
