Newbridge 2023 Netball Preview

DESPITE finishing just outside the top four last season, Newbridge are charged and ready for the year ahead.

Selina Holland will again be leading the Maroons’ A Grade side, while B Grade will be coached by Kym Childs, C Grade by Emma Allen and C Reserve by Madi Cleeland.

At this stage their only junior team will be under-17s, set to be coached by Morgan Bibby. They will be unable to field under-15s or under-13s sides due to a lack of numbers.

Pre-season started in early February and the club had a few practice matches to get a few good hit-outs before the start of the season.

The Maroons will be without Brianna Burt and Megan Jennings in 2023, but Kym Childs will return to the team as a player, as well as the addition of defender Emily Langley from Minyip-Murtoa.

Last year’s best and fairest Georgia Hyett and runner-up Sarah McCluskeuy will both be back this season to make an impact on the court.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Holland is keen to see how Emily Langley slots into Maroons’ A Grade line-up. “Emily will be a great asset to our defence end – she reads the play well and attacks the ball,” Holland said.
