Sheahan takes GRFNL Netball Junior Distinction award

Ella is the Captain of the Nullawil FNC 17 & Under team this year, plays B Grade every week and has also played several A Grade games this season.

She is a very versatile netball player and one who can play in all seven positions on the netball court. Ella plays Centre in her Junior Game each week, Goal Attack in our B Grade team and played mainly in defence when playing Interleague for the Golden Rivers this year.

Ella has represented the GRFNL Interleague team in the 13 & Under, 15 & Under and this year was her final year in the 17 & Under team. She has also been announced as a member of the Murray Region team, another tremendous achievement.

Ella is a very dedicated player who hates missing training or a game and has done a wonderful job since being diagnosed with diabetes three years ago, balancing her health requirements and her wonderful sporting achievements.

This year, Ella has been umpiring in Swan Hill on Wednesday nights, where games have been allowed to work toward obtaining her C Grade Umpiring badge.

To complement this, Ella umpires at training and junior games on Saturday’s. Ella attends the Wycheproof P-12 College where she is a popular and dedicated student and was chosen by her peers this year to Captain her Sporting ‘House’.

Lauren Thompson has had the pleasure of coaching Ella at both a junior and senior level and would like to emphasise her ability to play in all positions on the netball court with no fuss.

Ella is such a determined and dedicated team player who strives for the best for her team and teammates and understands the positive and imperative connection between a successful team gelling together and looking out for each other both on and off the court.

She is a true leader and is always observed to step it up a gear when the going gets tough to do what is required to benefit her team.

Aside from playing netball well, Ella has many talents, all of which revolve around Ella’s very caring and friendly nature.

Ella works at the Wycheproof Hospital, helping serve dinner to the elderly residents – all of whom adore Ella and her friendly personality.

We truly believe Ella is a worthy winner of the 2021 GRFNL Junior Distinction Award and we look forward to seeing how far Ella excels and moves forward with her netball career.
