Maiden Gully aiming for “actual flags”

MAIDEN Gully’s Christie Griffiths wants to maintain the momentum the team buillt last year as they head into the 2022 season.

“We were a new look team and had a good balance of young and old out on the court,” she said.

“We were really starting to come together at the end of the season so we were excited about finals,” Griffiths said.

“We hope to continue on from last year and bring home some actual flags.”

Maiden Gully’s A Grade, B Grade and Under 17s will be coached by Griffiths, while C Reserve will be coached by Emily Mynard.

Griffiths said the team has remained stable, with no new additions to the club, but some Under 17s players were joining the senior ranks.

“We have managed to keep the majority of our playing group so the girls already know each other, so it’s just a matter of getting the teams to gel,” Griffiths said.

Players to watch

Griffiths thinks that Leisa Barry will be one to keep an eye on, while the goaling combination of Tia Webb and Meg Patterson will be hard to miss.

“They played well together last year and are already showing signs of improvement,” Griffiths said.
