Eagles soar over Raiders

Koondrook Barham were no match for the Mallee Eagles over the weekend, going down by 61 goals in a 89-28 defeat.

The Eagles, last year’s runners-up, were on fire as they returned to court.

GA Emelia Bett and GS Kellie Walker continued to team up exceptionally, combining Bett’s agility and movement with 2021 club best and fairest Walker’s notorious accuracy.

At the other end of the court, defender Meg Allen was superb.

Koondrook Barham found themselves chasing the Eagles’ tails from the start, down by 10 goals at the end of the first quarter.

They seemed to have well and truly run out of steam by the last quarter, shooting only nine goals to the Eagles’ 30.Allen will assist Vicky McDonald to coach the A grade and A reserve sides and her quiet leadership is evident on court.

The Eagles will this week face a challenge in Swan Hill who finished just below them on the ladder last year, while Koodrook Barham will face a strong Lake Boga.

FINAL WHISTLE:

Koondrook Barham – 28

Mallee Eagles – 89
