Swan Hill make a strong start

DESPITE their convincing round 1 win against Koondrook-Barham, the Mallee Eagles couldn’t maintain their good form, going down to Swan Hill 52-64.

Struck down by player illness during the week, the Eagles were left to play catch-up from the start, eventually running of of legs in the last quarter and allowing Swan Hill to secure their 12-goal win.

It was a great start for Swan Hill in their first game of the 2022 season. Kelsey McCoy was strong at wing attack, while Casey Frame had a consistent game in the goal circle. Up against Frame was the Eagles’ Claire Allen, who kept her head up for the entire game to give a consistent defensive performance.

Down the other end of the court, Eagles goalie Emelia Bett had a very good game against Swan Hill’s Mollie Quinn.

After an Easter break the Mallee Eagles take on NNW United, while Swan Hill will face Lake Boga.

Final Whistle:

Mallee Eagles: 52

Swan Hill 64
