Balranald Roos bounce back

IT was a tough week for Nyah-Nyah West United, going down to a determined Balranald side 40-54.

The Roos were keen to bounce back after their loss against Swan Hill the previous week and, despite the Demons’ best efforts, they were able to achieve that.

Demons defenders Matika Mitchell and Zoe Gray battled well against the Roos’ accurate shooting circle.

Roos playing coach Jess Parry said their attacking end stood their ground on Saturday, with mid-courters Bonnie Jolliffe, Taylin Barry and Bree Hodgson working hard to keep the Demons at bay.

Demons playing coach Laura Anderson said everyone on her team kept their heads up throughout the game to stay competitive until the end despite being behind from the get go.

“I was very proud of the girls’ efforts against one of the top sides,” Anderson said.

“We have made it a goal to be competitive with the top sides, and I believe we did that.”

Swan Hill wins comfortably

SWAN Hill continued to maintain their composure on the netball court, comfortably beating Tooleybuc-Manangatang 63-44.

Swan Hill led from the start, going into the first break four goals up and extending that lead in every quarter. The last quarter was their best, doubling the Saints’ goal tally for that quarter and convincingly taking the win.

The Saints gave their all, with their defence combining well and picking up loose balls, but Swan Hill’s mid-court were on top of their game.

Swan Hill’s Karli McIntyre applied defensive pressure throughout the mid-court, while Kelsey McCoy was steady and composed at the attack end, feeding well to the shooters.

There was also a strong battle happening throughout the game between Saints goalers Zoe Morris and Carlee Hazlett and Swan Hill defenders Hayley Neuschafer and Mollie Quinn.
