Despite the margin, the Dogs seemed to be chasing their tails for the entirety of the match, with the Pies keeping just ahead throughout.
The Hepburn sisters showed off their great connection in the Pies’ goal circle, while Emma Peacock demonstrated her versatility in playing three different mid-court positions during the match to provide her team with the direction and experience they needed.
However, Lake Boga playing coach Anna Archie said it took her side a little while to get into the game.
“All in all it’s a game played, one that we are pleased to have the four points, but not a game we are going to reflect on too much,” Archie said.
Saints win tight tussle
IT was a tightly contested game between Woorinen and Tooleybuc-Managatang at the weekend, with the Saints scraping in with a 36-32 point win.
Scores were dead level at half-time at 20 goals apiece. But by the end of the third quarter the Saints had got themselves ahead by six goals, and despite the Tigers’ best efforts, came away with the four-goal win.
Tigers playing coach Olivia Jones said it was a tough match, but was still pleased with how her team performed.
“All players had an impact on the game and played with great intensity, however at times we were unable to transition the ball into the ring to allow us to convert our efforts into a goal,” Jones said.
“Although this is a disappointing loss, it’s great to see the girls building on a strong team bond and seeing improvements in the areas in the court we have struggled with this season.”
Demons far too good
NYAH Nyah West United had a very convincing 61-28 win over Koondrook-Barham at the weekend.
The Demons were ahead from the beginning, up 10 goals on the Raiders by the end of the first quarter. The Raiders tried their best to keep themselves in the game, but the Demons were too strong, continuing to grow their lead each quarter before finishing the match with a 33-goal margin.
Zoe Gray and Shania Decker rejoined the Demons’ line-up, slotting seamlessly back into the swing of things and not missing a beat.
Demons shooter Denise Snyder was particularly strong in the goal circle, complemented well by goal attack Bridie Curran, who did a lot of the work out the front to get the ball to Snyder.
The Raiders are yet to get a win on the board this season.
