Dogs show their bite against Koondrook-Barham

TYNTYNDER had a win over Koondrook-Barham on their home court, getting over the line by seven goals.

In an up-and-down match, the Dogs led by six goals at the first break before the Raiders closed the gap to two goals by half-time.

The Dogs then pushed their lead out to four goals at three-quarter time, increasing their margin in the last quarter.

Eighteen-year-old Rose Crowe filled in for the Dogs’ defence line this week, creating lots of turnovers and picking up loose balls to help her team get ahead. Dogs wing defence Caitlin Bartalotta also worked hard.

This week Tyntynder will take on neighbouring rivals Swan Hill in what may be a tough match for the Dogs. The Raiders will host Cohuna in what should be a competitive game.

Kangas far too strong

COHUNA proved too good for Tooleybuc-Manangatang at the weekend, beating the Saints comfortably.

The Kangas came out firing, building a five-goal lead before the Saints had a chance to put their first ball through the ring. The score was 26-20 at half-time before the Kangas extended their lead to eight goals by the end of the third quarter. They then more than doubled their lead in the last quarter, finishing 17 goals up.

Kangas goalies Kobie McIvor and Carmen Dye were extremely accurate throughout the game, making the most of every opportunity.

Despite the best efforts of Saints shooters Carlee Hazlett and Zoe Fuller, the defensive pressure applied by Danni Sawyer and Keely Wilson was too much, with the Kangas able to capitalise on any loose balls thanks to the work of the defenders.

Final whistle

Cohuna 58

Tooleybuc-Manangatang 41
