SWAN Hill have started their season in style, annihilating the shorthanded Tooleybuc-Manangatang by 43 points.
The 2023 runners-up the ground running, scoring 21 goals in the first quarter alone to the Saints’ four, and continued to build their lead.
Swans playing coach Madeleine Nalder said she was pleased at her team’s performance for their first hit-out of the year.
“We wanted to just focus on the basics this week of passing, pressuring the ball and working together,” she said.
“We felt that we were able to execute that.”
Saints coach Mel Wait said her side still showed good passages of play against one of the league’s top sides, and was particularly happy in the defensive pressure put on Swans goalers Zoe Morris and Ingrid Condely.
The Saints now have an extra week to regroup with a bye in round 3, and will be hoping to get a win on the board against the Mallee Eagles the following week.
