Swan Hill keeps Mallee Eagles winless

THE Mallee Eagles are yet to get a win on the board in 2023, going down to Swan Hill by 13 goals at the weekend.

Swans playing coach Madeline Nalder, who was named one of the best for the match, said it was a tight contest despite the scoreline.

“Defensively we worked ourselves into the game,” she said.

“The Eagles had a great start to the game, so we had to work really defensively to try and curb that.”

The Eagles were without star shooter Kellie Walker, with Megan Thorneycroft and Julia Amezdroz teaming up in attack.

Eagles defender Laura Fay had a great second half, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Swans shooters Zoe Morris and Ingrid Condely, who remained accurate all game and moved well in attack.

“We are looking forward to a bit more continuity, hoping for a full side (this) week,” Eagles playing coach Meg Allen said.
