THE Mallee Eagles have finally got a win on the board for 2023, comfortably beating Tooleybuc-Manangatang by 44 goals on Saturday.
The Saints started strongly, only letting the Eagles get ahead by a goal by the end of the first quarter.
But coach Melanie Wait said a drop in defensive pressure after that was the start of the landslide.
“We struggled to maintain the consistency we had in the first quarter,” she said.
“While we had good patches of play, the height of the Eagles’ goalers was hard to stop.”
Eagles playing coach Meg Allen believes having star shooter Kellie Walker back after a few weeks off was a great inclusion to their line-up.
“We came out in the second quarter and started to play our best netball, which we managed to do for the remaining three quarters,” Allen said.
“We will keep training hard with a bye this week, before taking on Nyah, who will be another challenging game.”
FINAL WHISTLE:
Tooleybuc-Manangatang 35
Mallee Eagles 79
