Win streak continues for Moulamein

Moulamein 44 d Wandella 31

THE ladder leaders took on the last-placed side at the weekend, with the final result demonstrating just how close the Golden Rivers A Grade competition is this year.

Outsiders would have predicted a larger win to the Swans, however the Bombers’ never-say-die attitude kept them in the game.

Moulamein’s Madison Wild was back on the court and shared the goaling tally almost equally, shooting 21 goals to Meg Rooney’s 23.

Trishelle Martin shot well for Wandella and gave the winless Bombers some hope for future games, as she begins to gel with Emily Lancaster.

Murrabit 48 d Ultima 30

THE biggest margin for the weekend was an 18-goal win by Murrabit over Ultima.

It was all tied up for the first half, as both teams fought hard for the ball.

Murrabit blooded some new players, including ex-Quambatook player Dana Boyd, who came on in the second half and was the difference for the Blues.

Bianca Brasser worked tirelessly in GK on Murrabit’s Grace Gillingham, keeping her to 20 goals for the match.

The ever-important Lauren Morrow rose to the challenge and shot magnificently in the second half, and teamed with Murrabit’s impressive midcourters Mary Yates-Ward and Montana Keating, proved unstoppable.

Ultima’s three goal last quarter stung, as Murrabit finished the game strongly and the Roos, who started the season 2-0, now move to fourth place on the ladder.

Macorna 52 d Hay 36

TIGER Emmalea Wishart once again stood up for her team, as Macorna banked a win over Hay.

The Tigers came out firing against a shell-shocked Hay, as Asela Finch banked an 11-goal first quarter.

Hay regrouped and tightened their defence after the break and suddenly the Tigers had to work harder to gain possession.

Hay’s Ellie Jamieson was unstoppable, shooting from mid-range, which stopped the Tigers from rebounding any ball.

April Wishart was monumental to the team’s win, as the Wishart sisters’ on-court bond continues to grow each week.

The 16-goal result was a solid win for the Tigers, who now face the in-form Murrabit at home this Saturday in what is sure to be the match of the round.
