Bombers, Roos in shock draw

Wandella 37 drew with Ultima 37

AN undermanned Ultima have been forced to share the points with Wandella, finishing their match locked at 37-all at the weekend.

The Roos started well, with goalie Grace Farrell hitting the scoreboard early, carrying a five-goal lead into the second quarter.

Wandella’s Zoe Gray and Kaylee Shipp tightened their defensive efforts and were able to stop the scoring rate.

Jade Symons for Ultima was rallying hard for her team, but a five-goal last quarter for Ultima proved costly.

Macey Bott had her eye in and, partnered with Emile Lancaster, the pair were proving dangerous, with Bianca Brasser intercepting some critical rebounds in the final moments to stop Wandella from taking the win.

Macorna 48 d Moulamein 44

MACORNA handed Moulamein their first loss for the season, securing a four-goal win.

The Swans had the jump early, however as the game advanced, it was the Tigers who proved more powerful.

Returning Swan Matika Mitchell had the job on Macorna’s Amelia Brock and was rallying to give her team opportunities, but Brock’s 36-goal performance was unstoppable.

The Swans were getting plenty of chances to score but could not convert as they struggled for height without Madison Wild.

April Wishart again showed midcourt strength for the Tigers, while Mitchell was best for Moulamein.

Murrabit 77 d Hay 35

MURRABIT continued their dominance, taking home a strong win against Hay.

A huge 24-goal first quarter by Murrabit set the tempo for the game, with Hay unable to come back from there.

Lauren Morrow was clever and quick in the C bib and was feeding to her goalies with ease, while Ellie Jamieson for Hay was attacking hard and rebounding well.

The Lions attempted to get some momentum going by moving Hannah Stewart from WA to GD, however the lead was too great to overcome.

Montannah Keating in GA and Grace Gillingham in GS is proving to be the right combination for the Blues, as they continue to put high scores on the board week in and week out.

With Moulamein’s loss to Macorna, the Blues now find themselves sitting atop of the A Grade Golden Rivers ladder.
