WOORINEN has returned to the winners’ list after a convincing 21-goal win over Kerang on Saturday.
The Tigers got an early jump on the Blues in less-than-favourable conditions, going nine goals ahead by the end of the first quarter.
“This week we ensured we got off to a good start and made sure that when we turned the ball over we scored,” Tigers playing coach Tayla Bennett said.
“We had to adjust our game slightly to ensure we capitalised in the wet.”
The Blues appeared to be missing Olivia Jones and playing coach Chloe Adams from their line-up.
After a stellar start to the season, Saturday’s loss was the Blues’ second in a row, dropping them from second to fourth position on the ladder.
It was a much-needed win for the Tigers after a loss to Lake Boga the previous round, and moved them up the ladder to third position.

Fresh Dogs too strong
TYNTYNDER have returned to the court firing after a bye, beating a depleted Tooleybuc-Manangatang side by 21 goals.
It was a close start to the match, with the Saints up by a goal at the end of the first quarter.
But a solid 19-goal second-quarter performance by the Dogs put them in the box seat for the win and they maintained their big lead for the rest of the match.
Bulldogs coach Teagan Lawry said she was pleased with her team’s performance on Saturday.
“We used our strengths to our advantage to play a strong game across the court and take home a good win,” she said.
Saints coach Melanie Wait said the changes in her team’s line-up, with a number of fill-ins taking the court, eventually took its toll.
“(Tyntynder) were a much more polished side in the end, and the speed and consistency of their goalers was evident,” she said.

Lake Boga win big
LAKE Boga had a convincing win over the embattled Koondrook-Barham, beating the Raiders by 42 goals.
The Hepburn sisters, Sarah and Katie were again at the top of their game, with the Raiders’ defence unable to stop the Magpie goalers from repeatedly finding the ring.
The Pies’ defence was just as strong, with Raiders shooters Emily Fasham and Shanae O’Donoghue struggling to find the post over the defensive pressure of Jemma Meehan and Emma Peacock.
Lake Boga are one of only two teams who are yet to lose a game in 2023, and sit comfortably at the top of the ladder.
The Raiders are the only team yet to get a win on the board this year, sitting at the bottom.
The Pies have a bye in round 8, while Koondrook-Barham will have another tough game ahead of them against Kerang.

Kangas struggle with injuries
AN injury-plagued Cohuna were no match for the Mallee Eagles, doing down by 36 goals at the weekend.
The Eagles controlled the game from the beginning, doubling the Kangas’ score 18-9 by the first break, and continuing to build their lead from there.
One of the Eagles’ main strengths was their midcourt, with wing attack Sonya Lorenzoni in particular applying a lot of pressure and making the Kangas work for every ball they did get.
Kangas playing coach Meg Dye said her team put up a good fight under difficult circumstances.
“It’s definitely been a rough few weeks with players out with injuries, but we are holding it together and pushing each other to be the best we can be and I love that about this group,” she said.
It wasn’t all bad news for the Kangas, with defender Breanna Wilson celebrating her 300th club game.
