Tigers fight back late

SWAN Hill have had their first loss of the season, losing to Woorinen by two goals at home on Saturday.

Swans coach Madeleine Nalder said it was a really tight contest against the Tigers, with the game coming down to the dying minutes.

“There were lots of momentum swings throughout the game, and in the end Woorinen ran away with it in the last quarter,” she said.

While the Tigers went into the first break five goals up, the Swans weren’t willing to surrender, clawing their way back to lead by four goals at half-time.

The Tigers then slipped further and were six goals down with one quarter to go, before coming back to secure the thrilling narrow win.

“Obviously we were disappointed with losing, but also felt there was lots of positives to come from the game,” Nalder said.

The Swans’ shooting duo, Zoe Morris and Ingrid Condely, were among the best on court, combining well in the goal ring to make the most of the opportunities thrown their way throughout the match.

After the loss the Swans dropped from second to fourth place on the Central Murray A Grade ladder, while Woorinen held steady in third position, sitting just behind Kerang and Lake Boga.

Swan Hill will be keen for a win against long-time rivals Tyntynder this weekend, while the Tigers have a week to rest before taking on Tooleybuc-Manangatang in round 9.

FINAL WHISTLE:

Swan Hill 55

Woorinen 57
