Upset of the season

Wandella 29 d Macorna 26

WANDELLA have defeated Macorna in the upset of the season, claiming a well-earned three-goal victory over the Tigers.

Weather conditions were poor and a strong wind was blowing, making it hard for goalies on both teams to score.

Wandella’s Trishelle Robinson was attacking hard for her team and fed the goalies well, while Macorna failed to hit the scoreboard when it mattered.

The game had many lead changes throughout – however, it was the Bombers who came up victorious, leaving a thorn in the side of the Tigers, who missed their opportunity to move into the top two on the Golden Rivers A grade ladder.

Murrabit 44 d Moulamein 40

IN an arm-wrestle, first-placed Murrabit defeated second-placed Moulamein by four goals.

The Swans got the jump on the Blues and went into quarter time three goals up, however, they conceded the lead and couldn’t get it back for the rest of the day.

Murrabit’s Erin McKean shut down Meg Rooney, with the Swans relying on Maddy Wild to do the bulk of the shooting.

Grace Gillingham and Montana Keating for the Blues shared the goal scoring and helping to get their team over the line in a tight finish.

Ultima 40 d Hay 39

AN improved Hay outfit has given Ultima a well-contested game, which ultimately came down to the final seconds of the match, with the Roos claiming a one-goal win.

Ellie Jamieson for Hay continued her consistent form, shooting accurately and giving the Lions every opportunity to score, while Ultima’s Louisa Frost was again strong and paired well defensively with Kobe Davison to turn over the ball.

Olivia Joyce, who is new to the Lions, has certainly added to the strength of this team who are proving harder to beat with each week.
