WOORINEN’S comfortable 23-goal win over Nyah-Nyah West United in round 11 was the Tigers’ fifth straight win.
While the wind made it hard for either team to score, the Tigers were able to adapt better to the conditions, dominating the game from the beginning.
Tigers playing coach Tayla Bennett said she was pleased to get another win on the board.
“NNWU tested us at points throughout the game with their defence, however we found another gear and capitalised,” she said.
Jamiee Beasy and Ava Crow were among the Tigers’ best, combining well in the midcourt to get the ball into the ring.
The Demons have another tough match ahead when they host ladder leaders Lake Boga. The Tigers will travel to Alan Garden Memorial Reserve to take on Tyntynder.

Roos keep up pressure
BALRANALD kept its top-five position after a percentage-boosting win over Cohuna at home.
The Roos took control of the game from the start, getting an early 10-goal lead over the Kangas and continuing to grow the margin after quarter-time.
Ella Mirtschin shot the majority of the Roos’ goals, putting the ball through the ring 56 times.
The Roos’ defensive pressure was also impressive, with defenders Elli Brougham and Hannah Morton limiting the Kangas to just three goals in the third quarter.
The win keeps Balranald in finals contention. Three teams (Balranald, Mallee Eagles and Kerang) all sit on 24 points, separated only by percentage.
Kangas should have a confidence-boosting win when they host the struggling Raiders in round 12. The Roos have a bye, followed by a must-win game against Tyntynder in round 13.

Boga the team to beat
LAKE Boga continued their winning streak with a convincing 40-goal win over Tooleybuc-Manangatang.
It was a tough challenge for the rebuilding Saints side, with Lake Boga the team to beat in this season’s A Grade competition.
While the wind and rain affected the Magpies, the Saints struggled to get the ball through the ring and were left playing catch-up from the start.
“Lake Boga were slick across the court, showing good systems and structures,” Saints coach Melanie Wait said.
Saints defender Taylah Morris tried her best, going head-to-head with Magpies shooter Sarah Hepburn, who was among the best on the court during the match.
The Magpies will travel to Nyah to take on the Demons in round 12, while the Saints will have another tough match ahead of them when they host Swan Hill.

Eagles soar over Raiders
THE Mallee Eagles annihilated Koondrook-Barham at the weekend, beating the wooden-spooners by 87 goals.
In the first quarter alone, the Eagles shot 26 goals, while the Raiders found the ring only four times.
“I was really pleased we had such a great start to the game – that was something we wanted to work on this week,” Eagles playing coach Meg Allen said.
“We also wanted to really focus on defensive pressure, which I think we did very well for the full four quarters.”
Eagles shooter Kellie Walker was named best for her side, shooting 75 of the Eagles’ 102 goals.
In spite of the massive blowout on the scoreboard, Allen said the Raiders were putting pressure on her side, meaning they had to be clean with the attacking movements.
