Tigers maul Swans

Macorna 52 d Moulamein 33

MACORNA stunned Moulamein at home at the weekend, with the Tigers recording a comfortable 52-33 victory.

The Tigers came out firing, scoring 18 goals in a huge first quarter, compared to the Swans’ six.

There was no coming back from there, with Asela Finch in great form for Macorna, and partnered with Emmalea Wishart the pair were unstoppable.

Moulamein’s Matika Mitchell worked overtime to try and give her team some drive, but the Swans failed to convert.

The big win lifted Macorna into the all-important second place on the A Grade ladder with four rounds left in the home-and-away season.

Murrabit 54 d Hay 33

WITH top of the ladder Murrabit taking on bottom-placed Hay, there were no surprises in Saturday’s result, with the Blues taking the points 54-33.

Murrabit again showed their dominance, while Ellen Jamieson for Hay was impressive in scoring 22 of her team’s 33 goals.

Lauren Morrow and Mary Yates Ward controlled the game from the midcourt for the Blues as Murrabit continued to demonstrate their strength.

Ultima 53 d Wandella 27

THE Bombers, coming off their win against Macorna last weekend, were hoping to build momentum against Ultima, however it was not to be, with the Roos taking home a comfortable 53-27 win.

Ultima’s Lou Frost was hard to beat defensively and kept Wandella’s Macey Bott to just nine goals for the match.

Lily Grey was equally impressive for the Roos at the other end of the court, scoring 30 of her team’s 53 goals after being fed well by coach Tayla Foster.
