NYAH-Nyah West United returned to the winners’ list with a 27-goal win over Koondrook-Barham.
The River Raiders went into the match with a confidence boost after almost beating Cohuna in round 12 and knowing the Demons were missing some important players.
But they couldn’t produce that same energy that they displayed last round.
Without coach Laura Anderson and assistant coach Madison Jones due to knee injuries, Taylen Blachford and Aleesha Flanagan stepped up to be the Demons’ leaders on the court, driving the play from the defensive end.
Jess Whitfield also slotted seamlessly into the Demons’ attack, going up against Raiders defender Ella Hall.
The Raiders are set to host Tyntynder in round 13, while the Demons will travel to Kerang to compete in a must-win game for the Blues.

Blues’ team game shines
KERANG have had a convincing 24-goal win over Tooleybuc-Manangatang at the weekend.
It was a must-win game for the Blues, who have a tough road ahead of them as they try to make it into the top five.
“We were really happy to be able to make multiple changes throughout the game and see them work well,” Blues playing coach Chloe Adams said.
“It was a real team effort from all nine players, which was great to see.”
The Blues have elevated midcourter Bree Cordina into their A Grade squad for the remainder of the season, while young gun shooter Alli Hunter also played her first A Grade game at the weekend.
The Saints will have a break with a bye this weekend, while the Blues need a percentage-boosting win against Nyah-Nyah West United in order to advance their position up the ladder and secure a place in this year’s finals series. They now sit in sixth place.

Lake Boga extends run
LAKE BOGA remained undefeated after beating the Mallee Eagles by 11 goals.
While the Magpies were ahead from the beginning, a poor third-quarter performance from the Eagles pretty much sealed their fate, as they were then left trying to fight their way back from a 17-goal deficit with just 15 minutes left to play.
While the Eagles did manage to close the gap in the scoreline by the game’s end, playing coach Meg Allen said the Magpies were solid across the court.
“Lake Boga had great pressure throughout the game, making it harder to attack the ball and convert,” she said.
“But our defensive pressure was great across the court.”
This defensive pressure came from Laura Fay and Sarah Young, who had their work cut out for them against the Magpies’ sister shooting duo Katie and Sarah Hepburn.
It was also a tight contest in the centre circle between the Eagles’ Elly Bookham and the Magpies’ Holly Hogan.

Big quarter for Tigers
IT was a tough day on the court for Cohuna, who went down to Woorinen by 34 goals on Saturday.
The Kangas managed to stay within two goals of the Tigers in the first quarter, before a 20-goal second quarter effort by the Tigers put them way ahead.
“We managed to stick with them in the first half – it was probably a few basic errors that let is down in the attack end,” Kangas playing coach Meg Dye said.
Tigers playing coach Tayla Bennett said she was pleased to get the win.
“It was a result of everyone working together and rewarding our efforts from defence in the attacking end that we got the win,” she said.
The second-placed Tigers have a big match ahead of them this weekend, taking on reigning premiers Balranald at home.
“We will start to put the work in in preparation for that game,” Bennett said.
