Macorna 42 defeated Murrabit 41
The potential grand final preview went right down to the line, with the home side Macorna winning by a solitary goal in the top-of-the-table clash.
Murrabit had the upper hand in the first quarter and held a four-goal lead at the first change, but that would be the last time they would lead for the remainder of the game.
Asela Finch and Emmalea Wishart for the Tigers were goaling accurately, not allowing Murrabit’s Erin McKean and Mila Bray to catch a trick.
Montana Keating was powerful for the Blues and in the dying moments of the game, Murrabit started to gain momentum, but it was too late as the Tigers held on to win 42-41.
Ultima 46 defeated Moulamein 41
In what some might call an upset, Ultima overcame Moulamein 46-41 in another classic encounter between these potential finalists.
The last time these two teams met it was a draw, and the scores were all tied up at both the quarter and half-time breaks on Saturday.
Ultima regained experienced GK Bianca Brasser, who was given the task of playing on Maddy Wild, with the partnership of Brasser and Lou Frost shutting down Moulamein’s ability to score.
Tayla Foster controlled much the play in the mid-court and helped the Roos gain the ascendancy in the second half.
Wandella 56 defeated Hay 26
Hay have lost what could be their last opportunity for victory this season, succumbing to Wandella by 30 goals on Saturday.
Wandella led at every break, with Emilie Lancaster and Macy Bott cashing in on their opportunities to bank the Bombers highest score of the season.
Ellen Jamieson again did her part for the Lions in attack.
Wandella will take their form into this week as they attempt to challenge the out of form Moulamein, while the Lions host Macorna.
