Close battle in prospect

BOTH Tooleybuc-Manangatang and Nyah-Nyah West United will be keen to get themselves back on the winners’ list after significant losses last round.

The last time they met, the Demons had a seemingly convincing win, getting up over the Saints by 15 goals.

A great battle is set to take place in the midcourt between Saint Jayda Plant and Demon Shania Decker, who play crucial roles in bringing the ball down the court and setting the pace for their respective sides.

The Demons will still be without the on-court assistance of coach Laura Anderson and assistant coach Madi Jones, who are sidelined with knee injuries sustained a couple of weeks ago.

While neither team is in finals contention, it is still likely to be a competitive match, but the Demons’ recent good form may be what gets them over the line.

Swan Hill v Cohuna

WHILE Swan Hill’s final position is safe, they will be looking to keep up their good form against an embattled Cohuna side tomorrow.

In their loss against Kerang last week, the Kangas tried a few new combinations on the court, bringing Ebony Black into goal shooter to give them a tall target under the post. With league best and fairest Madeleine Nalder playing goal keeper, they may be looking to Black again this week to give them that extra boost in the ring.

Kangas goal attack Kobie McIvor has also been a solid reliable for her side, and spectators will be eager to see the head-to-head between her and Swans defender Mollie Quinn.

When the two sides played each other in round 5, the Kangas went down by 53 goals, with Swans shooter Zoe Morris putting 59 shots through the ring.

While it will be hard for the Kangas to get on top of the league heavyweights, it should be considered a success if they are able to reduce their deficit this time around.

Koondrook-Barham v Woorinen

KOONDROOK-Barham only have two more chances to get a win on the board this season, but it will be a big challenge against Woorinen this weekend.

In recent weeks, the wooden-spooners have suffered embarrassingly large losses against some of the top sides – 87 goals to the Mallee Eagles, and then 89 goals to Balranald last round.

Meanwhile, the Tigers have been one of the top sides in the competition all season, having already cemented their finals position by sitting in third place on the ladder.

While there is no chance of finals for the Raiders, they are hopefully focusing on keeping their heads up as their season nears its end, looking to strengthen their combinations, build as a team and develop as players to be on the front foot next season.
