Draw, upset in hard-fought round

Moulamein 40 drew Wandella 40

WANDELLA have caused another shock result, securing yet another draw with a 40-all result against Moulamein.

The Swans were up by seven goals at three quarter-time, only for the Bombers to rally and work their way back into the game to share the points.

This wasn’t the first time the Bombers came home hard in the last quarter this season, sneaking a draw against Ultima and a win over Macorna, proving that when they are on fire, they can take on the best.

Steph Ierardo was instrumental in the comeback, which left Moulamein scratching their heads, having banked only one win from their past five games.

Ultima 36 d Murrabit 31

THE upsets continued with Ultima defeating premiership favourites Murrabit 36-31.

It was a tight tussle of back-and-forth netball for the first three quarters, after which scores were tied at 25 goals apiece.

The goalies for both sides struggled to hit the board as defence ruled the game, with Bianca Brasser and Lou Frost for Ultima only getting stronger as the season progresses, while Erin McKean and Aimee Sinclair for Murrabit were just as solid.

Ultima were able to compose themselves and settled well into the last quarter to come away five goal victors, while Murrabit, who have only lost three games for the season, have now lost two in a row but remain on top of the ladder.

Macorna 58 d Hay 39

IT was the Tigers who had a strong win against the Lions in the battle of the big cats, with Macorna claiming a 58-39 victory.

Asela Finch continued her strong form, shooting 37 goals for her team, while Hay’s Hannah Stewart showed some moments of brilliance by feeding strongly into the goal circle and providing lots of scoring opportunities with her clever ball use.

Erin Delahunty and Holly Griffiths for Macorna were a brick wall in defence, making it impossible for Hay to score at times, with the pair intercepting many balls and providing ample chances for the Tiger attackers to convert.
