MURRABIT won a second consecutive Golden Rivers A Grade premiership, defeating Macorna by 11 goals.
On a warm Saturday afternoon at Murrabit, the Blues controlled the game from start to finish.
A good start from the goal attack Montana Keating enabled a five-goal lead at quarter-time, although it was a much closer opening term than when the two sides last met.
Emmalea Wishart for Macorna was strong in attack in the second quarter and gave plenty of drive, while Mary Yates Ward and Lauren Morrow were strong contributors in the Blues midcourt, providing plenty of run and determination.
With Keating and Grace Gillingham beginning to get their eyes in, the Blues went into the half-time break up by nine.
Erin McKean, Aimee Sinclair and young gun Mila Bray were working tirelessly for the Blues defence, making it hard for April Wishart and Leah Lacy to feed their goalies.
Macorna began to rally, and Asela Finch and Emmalea Wishart started to build, shooting six goals in a row and outscoring the Blues in the third quarter by a goal.
Keating continued to dominate in the last quarter and stood up strong for her team, goaling accurately and making them count.
Macorna’s Erin Delahunty was on the hunt for intercepts to give her team some momentum, but time was running out.
Long-time player Ashea Bujduso entered the court for Murrabit as they closed out the game.
Keating was awarded the best-on-court medal after a fine game in the GA bib, having shot 30 goals from 35 attempts in a fantastic grand-final performance.
B Grade
Murrabit 31 d Macorna 29
THE B Grade grand final proved an arm wrestle, Macorna seeming to have full control of the game until the final two minutes.
The Tigers, who came from fourth place, pushed Murrabit to their limits, but it was the goaling accuracy of Murrabit’s Jo Danson that helped the Blues over the line by two goals.

HAY came from behind to claim a big win against the Blues.
Sophie Tapper was formidable, shooting 32 of Hay’s 47 goals and earning herself the best-on-court medal.
