COACH: Anne-Marie Stewart (Lake Boga)
Taking over the role as A Grade coach at Lake Boga this year, Stewart’s leadership style has proved to be extremely successful, finishing the season with just one loss on the board, taking home the minor premiership and earning a spot in the grand final. Stewart needs no introduction, having previously coached both Woorinen and Swan Hill to premierships, along with a representative coaching history.
GOAL SHOOTER: Tayla Bennett (Woorinen)
Returning to the Tigers this year, former premiership player Bennett was an integral part of her team’s line-up this season. She is one of the taller goal shooters in the league, and has an incredible holding style of play that makes her hard for defenders to guard. Bennett also took on the role of coach, leading her team all the way to the semi-finals.
GOAL ATTACK: Ingrid Condely (Swan Hill)
A reliable out the front of the ring, Condely plays a crucial role in the Swans’ attack end. Working ahead of shooter Zoe Morris, Condely plays more of a roving role around the ring, being able to cleverly know when to pass the ball into her shooter or take the shot herself, being able to shoot from most anywhere in the ring.
WING ATTACK: Sonya Lorenzoni (Mallee Eagles)
Lorenzoni has been a steady, solid presence in the Eagles attack end throughout the season. Her feeds into the ring are second to none, combining extremely well with both Kellie Walker and Megan Thorneycroft in the ring to seamlessly get the ball into the Eagles goal circle. Lorenzoni is also quick off the transverse line, and is able to keep her opponents on their toes.
CENTRE: Holly Hogan (Lake Boga)
Returning to her home club this season, Hogan has been a consistent reliable in the minor premiers’ midcourt. Her agility and boundless energy means she can run out a full four quarters while giving the Magpies that boost they need in the centre. She also has a great ability to switch from defending to attacking in a split second.
WING DEFENCE: Carlee Hazlett (Woorinen)
Hazlett joined the Tigers from Tooleybuc-Manangatang this season. While originally planning on playing in the goal circle as a shooter, her ability to read the play, agility to switch from defence to attack at a moment’s notice, and readiness to go in for a contest has made her one of the best wing defenders in the league.
GOAL DEFENCE: Jemma Meehan (Lake Boga)
A powerhouse in the Magpies defence end, Meehan has been a dominant player on the court week in week out, being a big contributor to her team’s grand final appearance. She has an incredible ability to be able to read the play and subsequently intercept, with her height and strength making her a force to be reckoned with.
GOAL KEEPER: Elli Brougham (Balranald)
As one of the taller defenders in the league, Brougham has been one of the best goal keepers in the league throughout the season. While she missed a couple of weeks in the middle of the season due to injury, and her presence was certainly missed in the Roos line-up, particularly her immense pressure that she is able to apply to the shooters she plays on.
BENCH:
Kellie Walker (Mallee Eagles)
Walker is a prolific shooter, with her height and holding style of play making her extremely hard to defend.
Kelsey McCoy (Swan Hill)
Always dependable, McCoy is a fast and agile midcourter, whether she puts on the C or WA bib.
Jess Parry (Balranald)
Parry’s netball smarts, along with her accuracy at the post, are what makes her one of the best goalies in the competition.
Madeleine Nalder (Swan Hill)
You rarely see Nalder standing still on the court, constantly sticking to her opponents with a determination and hunger for the ball.
Hannah Morton (Balranald)
Earning the Roos A Grade Best and Fairest this season, Morton is a dangerous defender, able to intercept with ease.
