Close games to end season

B Grade

Swan Hill v Woorinen

(Court 2 – 11.50am)

WOORINEN will be aiming for back-to-back premierships when they take on Swan Hill in tomorrow’s B Grade grand final.

Despite winning all bar one game throughout the home-and-away season and finishing on top of the ladder, the Tigers were outmatched by the Swans in the second semi-final a fortnight ago, with Swan Hill claiming an 11-goal win.

The Swans will therefore go into tomorrow’s game as favourites, with an experienced line-up that has tasted premiership success in the past at their disposal.

The match-up that will likely decide the winner will be in centre, with Woorinen’s league best and fairest Tenay Fellows set to lock horns with Swan Hill’s Jade Hunter, who herself finished third in the league vote count on Sunday night.

The other key area will be in the Tigers’ attacking third, with Toni Bolton and Melissa Rushton consistently among their teams’ better players this season.

With current form on Swan Hill’s side and a season of dominance on Woorinen’s, another close encounter should be almost guaranteed, and the Swans should end the Tigers’ reign.

Tip – Swan Hill to win by four goals.

B Reserves

Swan Hill v Cohuna

(Court 2 – 1.20pm)

THE best two teams all year will meet in tomorrow’s B Reserves grand final, with Swan Hill and Cohuna set to meet for the third time this season.

With the head-to-head record standing at one game each, tomorrow’s decider will be anyone’s game, with Swan Hill holding bragging rights after claiming a 14-goal win over the Kangas on the same court just six weeks ago.

The Swans took a direct path through to this year’s grand final after defeating Tyntynder by 10 goals in the semi-finals, while the Kangas have been forced to qualify the hard way after suffering a shock loss in the qualifying final.

Meg Garvie has been a dominant force at goal keeper all season for the Swans, with her battle against the Kangas’ shooting combination of Grace Jones and Zoe Pollock likely to be a match-defining one for both teams.

Tip – Swan Hill to win by seven goals.

17 & Under

Cohuna v Kerang

(Court 1 – 10.15am)

LONG-time rivals Cohuna and Kerang will meet in the first of the junior netball grand finals tomorrow, with the Kangas going in as warm favourites following a season of dominance.

They have lost just one match for the season and won their way through to tomorrow’s grand final with a 14-goal win over the Saints in the second semi-final.

Kerang, on the other hand, have come from the clouds, with the Blues winning all three finals after finishing the season fourth on the ladder.

Lily Wise and Alli Hunter will be key players in the Blues’ quest to win the premiership from fourth place, while the Cohuna line-up is stacked full of talent across the court with players of the calibre of Charlie Moon and Maddy Black.

Tip – Cohuna to win by eight goals.

15 & Under

Lake Boga v Tyntynder

(Court 1 – 8.45am)

LAKE Boga and Tyntynder will lock horns in tomorrow’s 15 & Under grand final, with the Bulldogs out for revenge following their upset loss in the second semi-final.

Having finished on top of the ladder with a 15 win, one loss home-and-away record, Tyntynder were outplayed by the Magpies in the semi-final, 39-34.

Lake Boga are the only team to beat the Bulldogs this season, with the Magpies having also secured a two-goal win over the Bulldogs in round 16. The black-and-white army will be hopeful of kicking off a big day around the courts with a win.

Tip – Lake Boga to win by two goals.

13 & Under

Lake Boga v Tooleybuc-Manangatang

(Court 2 – 10.15am)

LAKE Boga and Tooleybuc-Manangatang’s youngest players will take to the court to battle it out in the 13 & Under grand final.

All eyes from the Saints will be on their young netballers, with the 13 & Under girls the club’s sole representatives tomorrow.

Very little has separated the two teams all season, as evidenced by the Magpies’ two-goal win in the second semi-final, with another tight contest expected tomorrow.

Tip – Lake Boga to win by one goal.
