Saints surge late to stun Magpies

A REMARKABLE 12-goal final quarter turnaround has helped Tooleybuc-Manangatang secure their first points of season 2025, with the Saints recording a six-goal win over Lake Boga on Saturday.

Having trailed by six goals at the final break, Tooleybuc-Manangatang finished with 15 of the last 18 goals of the match to defeat the Magpies 48-42, with Saints coach Mel Wait ecstatic with her team’s response after the match

“It was an interesting game, we made a few changes at the end of the third quarter to start the fourth and I think that made a difference,” Wait said.

“Reagan O’Meara went out to goal attack in the last quarter and she really stepped up, while Eden Hoare was a steady calming influence in the middle and Amy Standen going back to wing defence made a difference too.

“It got pretty physical in the fourth, but defensively we created turnovers all day, we took a few more and rebounded better and then we converted much better also.”

Goal keeper Taylah Morris was again among the Saints better players for the afternoon, with Tooleybuc-Manangatang missing Jayda Plant, Laura Grant and Rhiann O’Meara, with Maddy Gleeson best on court for Lake Boga.
