AN understrength Tyntynder have climbed to eighth on the ladder following their hard fought two-goal win over a determined Lake Boga on Saturday.
It was the Bulldogs second win of the season and came despite losing goalers Violet Corrie and Demi Hallam before the match.
The absence of their two shooters did little to dampen Tyntynder’s enthusiasm, with Kim Calvert and Sam Laughlin stepping in to fill the void, with the pair earning special praise from Bulldogs co-coach Bridget Dedini after the match.
“It was a great win, especially after losing both our goalies before the match,” Dedini said.
“Sam (Laughlin) played her first A grade game and was fantastic, she had a very level head in a pretty physical contest.
“Kim Calvert also filled in at goal shooter and was a great support and shot beautifully too.”
After holding a two-goal lead at half-time, Lake Boga were eventually overrun in the 44-42 defeat, with Magpies coach Lisa Ryan proud of her team’s performance post-match.
“It was a tight and physical game, we just couldn’t quite get the intercept to get in front,” Ryan said.
“Our defence was consistent all game with Felicity Robertson best on court at goal keeper.”
