No police in town

THIS just does not make sense.

We have a policewoman in town, that would love to stay here, but she is getting shifted to Moama.

Our so called local policewoman is based in Barham, no good for our town.

We need a police presence in town.

It has been proven in the past that this works.

The reason for taking our locally-based policeman away: not enough crime. This means that it is working.

We need police presence in town, we had one.

She has been taken away and we have been left with a police distance. Not a presence in town.

Either we get onto the area commander, or we commit more crimes to make them leave our copper in town.

We have to get onto this as soon as possible or we will never have coppers in town again.

Preschool

OUR new pre-school is looking great.

This will be a great asset for our town. Every town needs child care, and we will have a great facility very soon.

December 14 races

OUR Moulamein races are not far away.

Do you need a Christmas party? Do you need a ripper day out?

Do you need the Birdsville Races just up the road?

Whatever you need when it comes to a bloody good time, the Moulamein races will provide it for you.

Buses run from most towns around us.

Book in and I will see you at the front gate.

Lead for fingerlings

OUR men’s shed has teamed up with our Moulamein Angling Club and the NSW Fisheries to restock our rivers.

This is great. We can turn old batteries into fingerlings.

If you have a pile of batteries, our men’s shed mob will gladly come out and pick them up.

Or, you can help them out and drop them off in town.

If you do not have any batteries and you would like to hold this great event, cash donations are always made most welcome.

To organise delivery, or for a pick-up, please ring Sutto on 0447 541 200.

Stick your batteries in a pile and they will come and get them.

Good deal all around I think.

Lake dropping quickly

OUR Moulamein lake committee did their best with the water that our Murray River Council was able to supply us on a zero allocation.

Thank you to Murray River Council for that.

We kept our fish alive as well as the southern bell frog population that we have up there.

Trouble is, I think our friends, the southern bell frogs, need a high lake level to be able to breed.

All we need is water and our Moulamein lake could be the frog centre of our district.

Crow eaters have

100 per cent

I CAN sleep at night now.

I have been lying awake at night worrying about my mates, the crow eaters, not getting their 100 per cent allocation while we sit here on our very generous 0 per cent, zip, nothing.

I am pleased to announce that my friends, the crow eaters, now have their 100 per cent water right while they are still running water to the sea so they can get their desalination plant going to convert seawater to freshwater paid for by irrigators that hate crow eaters.

We are a very smart country.

Work started on

new tennis courts

WE protected these sacred tennis courts for years.

We planted them with grass, we kept the weeds out of them, we did everything we could to them, the best we could.

Two weeks ago, the excavators moved in.

They dug our courts up and piled them up outside the paddock.

Do not panic, I tell everyone that thinks the vandals have moved in.

By the time Murray River Council has finished, there will be two new all-season courts, a new clubhouse and lights up.

Well done to all those involved.

Fire brigade sign

OUR fire shed in Moulamein is a decent-sized building.

It is amazing how many people do not know where it is.

Our town brigade has recently received a new sign off the white shirts.

We proudly put the new sign on the front of our shed.

We decided to put the old sign on the back of our shed.

This faces our main street.

Now, everyone should know where our fire shed is.

We meet the first Wednesday of the month at 6.30pm for anyone that would like to join us.

Even better new walking track for our lakE

MURRAY River Council has been very busy and we now have a brand new tarred walking track around our Moulamein lake.

I knew we were getting a new track, but I never expected it to be sealed.

The new track is 1.4km long and 2.8 metres wide.

Residents are advised that this new track is for pedestrians only and vehicles are not permitted.

Thank you Murray River Council from all our keen walkers in town.

Xmas mailbox

competition

OUR gallery mob is running their Xmas mailbox competition again.

Take the time to design your own creative Xmas themed letter or mailbox.

First prize is $100 for adults and $50 for children.

Please enter at the gallery.

River levels

THE Edward is steady at 2.35 metres and just above 2500 megalitres a day.

The Edward should stay around this level for at least the next week or so.

Cod season has opened so dust off the rod, dig a worm or two and I will see you on the bank.
