Best foot forward

I USUALLY tiptoe around being too “callous” in my column, but there are a few feet that need attention in our community.

We have had a podiatry service in Moulamein in the past, now we have Country Feet Podiatry working out of our wonderful Bush Nursing Centre.

Emily, Stella and the team have stepped up and are now treating podiatry patients in Moulamein.

All jokes aside, good foot health is critical, particularly for our elderly and young children of our community.

It is great that this very important service has been restored in our town.

Country Feet will be at our health centre on February 12, 26 and March 11.

Then, every fortnight after that if the demand is there.

This is not just open to Moulamein residents, but everyone in our district.

For more details, please ring our wonderful bush nurses direct on 5887 5012 during office hours.

For all your medical advice, call our girls to keep this great service going, use it or lose it, we need it.

Bowls notes

WE were going for second spot last week against Racecourse.

They were in 4th spot, we were in third. If we could win, and our mates from Manangatang could get over Murray Downs, we were in.

Our good mates from Manangatang did a job on Murray Downs this week to keep us in the reach of second spot.

They said I owe them a slab. A bit of quick negotiations and we settled on a feed of yabbies next time they are out here.

Those Mallee boys do not see yabbies since they put the pipeline through their district.

Let’s hope the yabbies are running next time they come out here or it will cost me a slab.

Our day started well with the Happy Hookers getting the jump and being up 12 zip.

Unfortunately, they became the Unhappy Hookers again and went down by six.

Chalky Clark and his mob battled all day and got over the line.

Cool Hand Shields had a real hard task and could not get across the line.

One rink up, two down, down overall.

This week is the last week of home-and-away.

If the cards fall our way, we still have a chance at second spot and the double chance in the finals.

We go to Tooleybuc this week. They always give us a hard time so we will have a battle on our hands.

Fishing quiet

BETWEEN the river starting to drop and a bit of green slime in our water, the fish seem to be a lot harder to catch.

There is still a feed there if you put in the time, but it sounds like it can only improve.

River levels

THE Edward is just below 2.3 metres and around 2300 megalitres a day.

Our river should finally start to drop a bit.

These high rivers are good entertainment, but they are a complete waste of water in the current climate.

The headwaters of the Darling are starting to flow.

If the rain keeps going up there, our rivers will be cut back to nothing when it finally gets here.

Enjoy our high rivers while they last.

At the current flows, 2500ML a day in the Namoi, 1200 in the Paroo and just below 10,000 in the Barwon.

The Darling may not still reach the bottom. These rivers all flow into the Darling, but it is a very long river and takes a long time to get here.

At least those along the way will get some freshwater to shower in.

They have been showering in fish s*** for the last few months.

This could cause a baby boom up there.

They finally smell good enough to get back together as well as a few celebrations.

This could repopulate the outback.
