A bridge too far, says Moulamein columnist China Gibson

MEMBER for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has written to the Deputy Prime Minister, calling for his intervention in getting a new Moulamein bridge for Swan Hill.

I read this article with interest last week hoping that we may get a clue on where Mr Walsh thinks this new bridge should go.

I mean, if you are going to write to the Deputy Prime Minister, you could bring him up to speed as to where this fantastic new Moulamein bridge should go.

After all, the federal government has put $60 million on the table for this new Moulamein bridge.

Walsh wants bridge action was the headline last week in a local paper.

I got all excited and read the article a few times thinking that I must have missed the punch line. Then I remembered that I have seen this headline grabbing crap before.

Please Mr Walsh, if you want action on a new bridge, could you please tell me where you would like it to go.

We do not go to Victoria very often at the moment because of Dan’s stuff-up with the hotel saga.

But, when it is safe to go back to Victoria, we would like to do it in style across a new bridge wherever it may be.

You all know my opinion so I will try not to upset my anti-bridge mates and point out the bleeding obvious.

Could they please get onto Mr Walsh and see if he backs them in their endeavour to get a new bridge next century.

Mr Walsh, could you please put me out of my misery and tell me where you think the new bridge should go?

I look forward to your next headline grabbing article.

Can somebody please call someone so everybody can drive over a new bridge and nobody has to wait because that pisses off everyone and no one wants that.

Social bowls starting tomorrow

THERE is not much else happening so we are running a social pairs competition starting this week at the Moulamein Bowling Club.

This will be a good day out as well as good practice just in case we do get a pennant competition going this year.

Names in by 10am, start time 1.30pm.

The cost will be a whole $5 and the winner take all.

If you are a bowler, or you would just like to try your hand at the great game of bowls, this is your chance to have a go.

Everyone will be made most welcome.

For more information, please ring our bowling club on 5887 5207 or Kerren on 0407 800 111 for more information.

Moulamein Bowling Club gourmet fare

THIS great event made me do something that I have never done before.

The day was that successful that I had to actually ask people to leave our bowling club.

Of course, it was in the nicest manner.

There were about 30 or more people lined up outside and they could not come in because of the COVID restrictions.

Thank you for that to those that had a look around, picked up their bargains and headed home. It was much appreciated.

Well done to the organisers as well as the producers.

I did not realise there was so much local products available.
