Moulamein notes: November 13, 2020

Gallery photo comp

THE AGM of our gallery mob will be at 4.30pm today at our bowling club.

Everyone will be made most welcome.

Then the girls will organise all of the photos for display that night.

The photos will be on display for a week at our Moulamein Bowling Club due to COVID restrictions at their gallery.

With the presentation night being November 20, also at our Moulamein Bowling Club.

More information next week.

Wild storm

WE had a political storm through Moulamein on Wednesday night.

All piss and wind and bugger all good out of it. One roof was blown off a house in town. Not a good result for those involved.

Let’s hope there was not too much other damage around our district.

We have had about seven or so millimetres at the time of writing.

Even more water

YOU could have knocked me down with a feather today.

It is not the 1st or the 15th, or even April Fool’s Day.

But, us lucky buggers on the Murrumbidgee just picked up another 8 per cent of allocation of what we own for no reason.

Thank you to those in charge for that.

That takes us to 66 per cent allocation; 60 per cent better than this time last year.

Us lucky buggers in the bottom of the Billabong also have two days of off-quota coming at the end of the week.

After the run we have had with water, if this is a dream, do not wake me.

Our weirs on the Murrumbidgee are at 95 per cent and 86 per cent and both rising.

All I can do is ask everyone not to piss in the snow up there as we could have a flood.

The Hume is steady on 80 per cent.

AGM of football and netball club

BUGGER, with grandkids around wanting to do the birthday thing for me, I bloody forgot about it.

But, I had a great time with my grandkids and that is the most important thing.

Back to the AGM. They had a good roll up and most positions were filled.

Well done to those that stood up and I will help out whenever I can in my usual way.

Let’s hope the Mighty Swans can fly again next year.

It sounds like we are off to a great start.

If you would still like to help, but could not be there, do not be scared to put your hand up.

You will be made most welcome.

Bowls notes

OUR division four mob were at home to Racecourse.

Hookers’ mob got out of the blocks very well and were well up at smoko.

Something happened after that.

Was it the VBs that their lead had or the ginger beer that Hooker had?

We will never know, but they came out fighting and managed a draw.

Bob’s mob had a battle all day.

Whatever Bob’s mob did, the other mob would better it.

One draw, one down. Down overall. Our division one travelled to Racecourse for their game.

It was good that Robert got to play against his grandson DJ.

They came a draw. Doreen’s mob went down and Aaron’s mob went up. But not by enough.

One up, one down, one draw. Down overall.

Division one at home this week to the top of the table, Murray Downs.

Division four away to Nyah.

Good luck to everyone. A-grade singles is now up on the board.

Please get onto the game’s fellas. They have to be done by Christmas.

River levels

OUR Edward is steady and is around 2.5 metres and just over 2,600 megalitres a day.

An 80cm cod was caught in the Edward and I have heard of some good yellers getting caught in our Billabong.

Once the border opens up, I will know a lot more with plenty of visitors welcome to cross the dreaded border.
