More water

I AM starting to realise why my crow eating mates get pissed off every time there is a water allocation announcement and they are stuck on 100 per cent.

My mates on the NSW Murray have just picked up 4 per cent to go to 50 per cent of what the own.

My mates from Victoria on the Murray, with high security water, have just picked up 3 per cent to get them to 100 per cent.

This is the first time they have got their 100 per cent since 2017/18.

So that gives the crow eaters and Victoria 100 per cent on the Murray.

The Murrumbidgee has 100 per cent on high security as well as general security.

It is only my mates on the NSW Murray system that are stuck on 50 per cent.

This must mean that every time it rains, my mates on the NSW Murray must get the rest of the water that flows into the Murray system.

Just a thought. The only thing I have got in common with the crow eaters, is that we have 100 per cent of our water. That will not last.

Bowls ends in a whimper

WE had it all organised.

Both teams at home for the last game of the season.

Both teams playing on the top green due to our well-organised green keepers.

But unfortunately, my friend COVID crashed the party and Victoria is back into lockdown.

My mate Dan from the republic of Danganistan never ceases to amaze me how many different ways you can stuff up.

Then when the difficult questions get asked like, “Was the nebuliser given the okay to be used like the man involved said?”

The usual answer from my mate Dan when his government stuffs up, “I have already given my answer on that, I will be saying no more”. Unfortunately, if the bowls finals can be played in Danganistan, both our teams missed out. Division four almost got into the four for their first season of playing.

Our division one side held every other team up. Someone has got to finish on the bottom.

We gave a few teams a scare in our first year of division one for a few years.

We have been recruiting well and we could be a force to be reckoned with next year.

We are always looking for new players, so come along next year whether you are a beginner or an experienced player.

All will be made most welcome. If we can pick up a few more players, we will try to get our division four up to division three.

Only numbers hold us back. Please get onto what is left of our championships.

The greens will be prepared Thursdays and Saturdays and if you ask nicely. Maybe other days.

Lock smashed at our lake

OUR lake committee goes to a lot of expense to get a heap of keys made up every year for our lock on our boat ramp at our town lake. Some brainless individual has decided to smash our lake lock to save the membership fee.

We have not had this problem for years. As treasurer, I will still ask you to still pay your membership for this year if you have not already. Membership is a small cost compared to driving somewhere else to ski, or the cost of running a boat.

Our Moulamein town lake is run by volunteers and we do not need this happening.

I am seriously thinking about putting a list of members on the boat ramp post to shame the bludgers that hang on our coattails.

They are lower than a snake’s belly.

River levels

THE Edward is dropping very slowly at the moment at almost 2300 megalitres a day and just under 2.2 metres.

There is a good rise coming down the Billabong, as well as plenty of duck week. This may liven the fish up.
