Around the Churches December 3

GRAIN SHED

YES, the silly season is upon us, and as we go full steam ahead to the end of 2021, let’s not forget the most important reason we celebrate Christmas – the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ.

There is still time to participate in the Empty Christmas Tree, and our Christmas Hamper operation.

A big thank you to those who have already dropped off gifts, and of course the woodies for their toy workmanship.

We welcome all donations and corporate business sponsorship to help us reach the need that has been expressed to us through the various organisations who really appreciated our hampers in 2020.

Last year 420 were distributed, blessing over 800 people in our local community.

For more information please check out our website in What’s Happening www.thegrainshed.org.au

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV

Tonight 5pm come along to the recording of our online service – open to all non and fully vaccinated people.

Youth are here at 7pm for more laughs and fun with their growth groups.

As of Sunday this week our 9.30am service is open to all (non and fully vaccinated) with bookings essential, and the 11am service for all fully vaccinated carrying proof of vaccination.

Mainly Music has finished for the year and we would like to thank everybody on the team and all the mums, dads, grandparents and little ones who helped make this time together such fun and so special.

Watch this space February 2022 for when we start up again and until then, enjoy the summer break.

Our Craft Ladies meet on Thursday 10am.

UNITING

THE weeks of Advent bring us timely reminders as Christmas approaches.

The themes of hope, peace, joy and love are so much more than nice words on Christmas cards.

Being mindful of taking the time to appreciate the people who helped to bring these virtues into our lives increases the very nature of the virtues themselves.

They are, after all, easily transmitted!

The following was distributed as an anonymous email.

I hope it makes you smile.

“Warning… Advent Virus.

“Be on the alert for symptoms of inner hope, peace, joy and love.

“The hearts of a great many have already been exposed to this virus and it is possible that people everywhere could come down with it in epidemic proportions.

“This could pose a serious threat to what has, up to now, been a fairly stable condition of conflict in the world.

“Some signs and symptoms of The Advent Virus:

“A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fears based on past experiences.

“An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.

“A loss of interest in judging other people.

“A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.

“A loss of interest in conflict.

“A loss of the ability to worry.

“(This is a very serious symptom.)

“Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation.

“Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature.

“Frequent attacks of smiling.

“An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than make them happen.

“An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it.

“Please send this warning out to all your friends – this virus can and has affected many systems.

“Some systems have been completely cleaned out because of it!”
