Local storm damage
OUR municipality, like many areas across the state, experienced extensive damage following recent storm events.
I would like to extend my appreciation to local communities along with council’s hardworking depot teams for their efforts during the immense clean-up – it is wonderful to see our communities looking beautiful, once again.
Please remember that if you require assistance during storm events you can call the SES on 132 500, and for all other emergencies call 000.
Community satisfaction survey
A COMMUNITY satisfaction survey is currently being conducted for residents in our municipality until March 2022.
Randomly selected households may receive a phone call on either their landline or mobile phone from an independent market research agency, National Field Services.
The survey has been designed to assess the performance of our council across a range of measures to identify ways to provide improvement or more effective service delivery to residents.
I appreciate residents taking the time to assist us – this information will help direct our strategic planning and make sure we are meeting the expectations of our community.
Empower Youth program success
COUNCIL’s Empower Youth initiative has partnered with Swan Hill College’s VCAL program and they are currently achieving some great outcomes.
Last year Swan Hill College had a total of 19 Year 12 students successfully complete VCAL.
I am delighted to have recently learnt that all 19 students who completed in 2021, have since gone into employment including apprenticeships and traineeships – how fantastic is that.
The Empower Youth program works with young people aged 12-25 who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from family, education and/or community.
The program aims to connect these young people to a variety of opportunities to support them in their growth and to foster long term sustainable
outcomes.
Here’s hoping that local students have just as much success in this program in 2022.
I wish them all the best.
