Nation needs election prayers

GRAIN SHED

WELL, we are fast approaching Saturday, May 21. Yes, federal election day.

Please be encouraged to pray as our nation goes to the polls and votes for our leaders. “When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice: – Proverbs 29:2.

Tonight our youth meet at 7pm for Jam and Cream. Once again, it sounds like a lot of teenagers having fun to me. Contact Liz at youth@thegrainshed.org.au.

This Sunday 10am we have Pastor David Ratten as our guest speaker. An amazing preacher who has a wealth of experience. All are welcome to join us and please stay around after for a drink and a chat.

Monday is mainly music day, 9.30am, and we look forward to seeing our regular families but also would love to see new faces come and be part of this wonderful interactive music program for bubs, toddlers, preschoolers. Contact Robyn at reception on 5032 9449 for more information.

Our craft ladies are back 10am on Thursday and enjoy a good coffee while putting their hands to beautiful work.

UNITING

SWAN Hill, as part of the Mallee Rivers congregations, are considering what it means to be intentionally intergenerational in our approach to worship and life together.

We are exploring what this might look like, what might be new to try, and how we might find a way ahead.

The church was instituted by God to be a place where people come together in different formats to worship God together, to grow together in faith, and to support the work and mission of the church to our community.

Church is the people and it is the people who make the church. It is renewed by the ongoing work of the Spirit in the lives of the people that it seeks to serve.

Theresa Cho writes: “Intergenerational ministry is not a ministry of scarcity; it is a ministry of abundance. I am doing my very best in my corner of the world so that young people in my church do not grow up thinking that church is obsolete, that it does not intersect in real ways with what is happening out in the world. In fact, I am motivated by a desire to see people of all ages continue to move forward in this journey of learning and growing together.” (Engage all Generations, ACU Press)

We are seeking ways that will enliven the people of the church and create a space for the generations to be together, sharing their faith and wisdom with one another, learning and experiencing God’s love together.

The Swan Hill Uniting Church is in Beveridge Street. Our congregation meets every Sunday at 10am.

All are welcome to join in Conversations about Life with our small group on Wednesdays at 10am.
