Around the churches

ANGLICAN

ULTIMA’S monthly service is on tonight at the public hall at 7.30pm. All welcome.

Additional to last week’s Synod report are the decisions we made as a Diocese, focused on respect and values, listening to the heart of others, in counting what we have in common rather than our differences and history.

We made commitments to listening, to recognition and to reconciliation included in the Uluru statement; to the 10 Commitments for the Prevention and Response to domestic and family violence in the Anglican Church of Australia; to inclusion of all peoples in our communities of faith, including pastoral care and prayers.

We also agreed that Bishop Matt is to write an open letter to the Prime Minister asking him to demonstrate compassion to those awaiting permanent visas so that they can be secure and reunite here with their families.

Especially pleasing in this NAIDOC Week is the introduction of Rev Shannon Smith as our Diocesan Aboriginal communities officer. Rev Shannon is beginning a mum-to-mum playgroup, particularly for Aboriginal women but open to all, at Golden Square church and in this NAIDOC Week, she will conduct a Healing Circle gathering.

A real highlight was the naming of the new rural ministry centre in honour of Bishop Andrew Curnow, our most recent Bishop, and a strong and practical supporter of this ministry throughout Australia.

The Anglican Churches in the Bendigo Diocese is working in God’s name for you and for our communities. Come join us sometime.

GRAIN SHED

FOR all who were able to attend last Sunday, what an amazing and powerful message,”Heart in Worship”, that Pastor La’Mont delivered to us.

If you missed it or want to watch it again, be encouraged to go online and check it out as there is a message for all on our Grain Shed Church YouTube page.

“Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven – as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” Luke 7:44-47

Next week is the start of term three, and with it there will be many eager parents dropping kids off, catching up on chores around the home, back to gym classes, work, catch up coffee dates with friends. All while children get to hang out with their mates at school, oh, and school work, too.

Here at the Grain Shed, things also start to pick up with a lot of our in-house activities back.

Sunday at 10am, our church doors are open to everybody, local or not.

Pastor La’Mont will be on the platform sharing words from God, speaking into our hearts and lives.

Grainshed kids in-house will return on Sunday, July 17.

On Thursday at 10am ,our craft ladies will be at work over a good cuppa.

Friday week, our Grain Shed Youth will be back full of energy and no doubt sharing their holiday stories.

Preparations have already started for their Youth Alpha Camp August 20 and 21. Now is the time if you feel led to support our Grain Shed Youth, reducing the cost per youth and their wonderful ministry, to contact reception@thegrainshed.org.au to find out more.
