Church Notes

ANGLICAN

MANY of our congregation have been in and out of isolation, and several away on holiday, so may have missed the news that the Rectory family will be going to a new posting in mid-September.

After their farewell from the Parish of Christ Church Swan Hill, Peter and Jeannette Blundell will be on leave, preparing for the new stage of their ministry.

Peter’s last day at work in the parish is Tuesday, August 16.

Rev Rae King who is Jeannette’s mother, will leave with them, and their four years of service to us through these difficult times is deeply appreciated and be sadly missed.

The parish is so blessed to know that Rev Denis and Helen Gell, presently on holiday with family from the UK, will remain with us, supported by locum ministry supply.

In contrast to large churches being built in the cities, many Christians in rural areas are being cut off from community worship, and isolated as their little churches close.

Members of our parish in the outer districts, including Nyah West and Ultima, have continued to meet for worship, prayer and fellowship.

They are an example of faithfulness in adversity and the power of prayer when two or more gather in Christ’s name.

Bishop Matt has called Peter to travel to the northern areas of the Diocese of Bendigo to nourish and serve the faithful, and restore their feeling of family in the great communion of saints.

The disciples under persecution continued their mission to share the news of Christ’s resurrection, and in Antioch, the term Christian came into being.

There will not be a service at 9.30am this week.

Instead, the church service will be at 11am at the Lake Boga CFA meeting room, followed by a bring and share lunch.

GRAIN SHED

THIS Wednesday we are starting a church Bible study, from 2pm to 3pm, at the Grain Shed and open to all.

This will be a weekly study that will run during school terms. The first session will begin with “Grow”.

It will be part of the discipleship initiative to work within the Mission of our church – “building people of faith that love and bring hope to their community”. Some of the topics we will cover are: Is God real?, God’s love initiative, ambassadors, church life, the Holy Spirit, believers’ baptism and many more. So we invite you to join us for these very exciting and thought provoking studies.

Tonight, Grain Shed youth meet at 6.30pm for dinner before continuing with youth alpha.

A really fun night filled with good food, games and learning more about Jesus. Contact Liz at youth@thegrainshed.org.au for more details.

Sunday at 10am, our guest speaker is Matt Grierson as Pastor La’Mont is away. We look forward to seeing those of you who are able to join us and even stay around afterwards in fellowship.

For those who aren’t able, there is the online recording found from midweek on our Grain Shed Church Facebook page and YouTube. Grainshed kids the desk is open from 9.45am and closes at 10am. Open to children from three years to the end of primary school.

Monday at 9.30am, our mainly music team are ready for all the mums, dads and grandparents with their little ones for some interactional music fun and then a morning tea for both young and old, followed by play and a time to connect. Contact Robyn on 5032 9449 for more information

Thursday at 10am, our craft ladies meet over a good cup of coffee and end up in stitches.
