Around the Churches

Anglican

MOE Anglican Church activities are gradually returning to normal.

The parquetry floor looks magnificent and the hall is able to be used by regulars, or hired for your event.

While our Wednesday and Sunday Nyah West and Ultima services have remained constant, the aged care facilities are resuming and we are thankful to be able to rekindle this much-appreciated ministry.

The op shop and men’s shed at Nyah West are open to all, so take the opportunity to visit and join in, have a look, a cuppa and a chat. These facilities are available to all.

This month, we plan to resume the boot sale at both sites, so keep an eye out for this opportunity to grab a bargain as well as a cuppa, fresh scones or the barbecue.

Grain Shed

“FOR it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:6-8.

What encouraging words these are and so fitting with this change of season and with Pastor La’Mont’s message. Days are getting longer and warmer, energy levels are going up and have us wanting to get out and do more.

There is nothing better than giving our time to somebody or a group like Meals on Wheels, the Good Kitchen, volunteering here at the Grain Shed, cooking a meal for a neighbour or friend who is not well. The list goes on, so be encouraged to step out and let your light shine.

Last Friday, our youth had an amazing and full-on dance experience with Justin from Freestyle Dance Ministry. Wow! Our Grainshed kids also were treated to a lower key but just as wonderful time on Sunday morning. To see how all the kids danced and followed his moves with unshakeable moments was absolutely awesome and our time together had never gone so fast.

Tonight, our youth finish their youth alpha series. It starts with a meal at 6.30pm. Great food, fun games and lots of laughs shared while learning more about Jesus and how He loves each and everyone of us. Open to all secondary students. Contact Liz at youth@thegrainshed.org.au for more information.

Sunday 10am, Pastor La’Mont will be preaching on “Value: Community essentials of growing together, transparency, honesty, stewardship and unconditional love”. Bible reading Corinthians 13:1-12. Come along, bring a friend and stay around after in fellowship over a drink and something to eat. Grainshed kids desk opens at 9.45am and we look forward to pressing into the bottom line ‘God loves me, no matter what’ with the kids.

All our Grain Shed church sermons can be found on YouTube on our Grain Shed Church channel.

Monday is our last mainly music session, exceptionally starting at 10am as we share a picnic to end the term.

Wednesday is our Church bible study, 2pm to 3pm. Open to all.

Thursday 10am, our craft ladies meet for a stitch or two with a good coffee on hand.

Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are available here.

This will be a landmark year for Operation Christmas Child, as we look forward to celebrating 200 million gift-filled shoeboxes that have been collected and given to children all over the world since Samaritan’s Purse started doing the program in 1993.

If you’d like to be part of the fun this year and join in sending joy to children this Christmas, collect an empty box from the stand in the foyer, along with an instruction leaflet, which explains what to put in the box and also items that can’t be sent. Fill the box and return it to the Grain Shed by the start of October.
